WWE has revealed the time and place for the pay-per-view version of the Royal Rumble in 2023

The Royal Rumble will take place on January 28 of next year inside the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, the company announced on Wednesday. The San Antonio Commanders of the short-lived Alliance of American Football league played there in 2019 as well as the San Antonio Spurs of the NBA from 1993 to 2002. The future San Antonio XFL team’s home games will likewise be played at the Alamodome.

This will be the fourth time San Antonio has hosted a Royal Rumble event. The events from 1997, 2007, and 2017 were also held in the city. The 2007 event took place at AT&T Center, whereas the previous two were hosted at Alamodome. The Royal Rumble events in 1989 and 2020 were held in Houston.

One day before to the weekend of the NFL Conference Championship Games will be the date of the 2023 Royal Rumble. On Jan. 29, the NFC and AFC championship games will take place, so WWE won’t have to worry about the rivalry with the NFL on that day. The week leading prior to the NFL’s Super Bowl is generally when the Royal Rumble takes place.

For what it’s worth, BetOnline rates The Rock (+550) as the second favorite to win the 2023 men’s Royal Rumble battle, trailing only Cody Rhodes (-115), who is coming off surgery for a torn pectoral. The odds-on favorite to win the women’s Royal Rumble are +250 for Becky Lynch (the champion from 2019). With odds of +450, Bayley is second only to 2020 champion Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley.
