The bout began in the clinch against the fence until referee Dan Miragliotta separated the two when the action stagnated. A quick exchange led to another clinch, which was accentuated by a Lewis takedown. Lewis landed several heavy blows while there, but Tai Tuivasa absorbed them and blasted back as the two rose and returned to the clinch. A Lewis takedown followed with a minute remaining, but the two swiftly arose, remaining in the clutch until the bell sounded.

Lewis’ uppercut unsettled Tuivasa in the first minute of round two, and after a short clinch, the two went swangin’ and bangin’, with a Tai Tuivasa elbow upstairs knocking Lewis down and out, with Dan Miragliotta’s stoppage coming at 1:40 of the second stanza.
