T20 World Cup Semi Finals: There has been a lot of buzz about Group 1 from the start of Super 12 in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. GOD, the Group of Death, has now reached a stage where anything and anything may happen. After England’s victory against New Zealand, let’s see who will advance to the semi finals from Group 1.
AUSTRALIA IS IN DEEP TROUBLE AFTER ENGLAND WIN
Australia’s prospects of reaching the T20 World Cup semi finals have been jeopardized after England defeated New Zealand by 20 runs at the Gabba. The defending world champions are currently third in Group 1 and will need to easily defeat Afghanistan in their last Super 12 group stage match on Friday in Adelaide to enhance their net run rate (NRR) since all three teams are level for the first position in terms of points.
Which Team Will Qualify For Semi Final
However, given Australia has a worse NRR of -0.304 than England (+0.547) and New Zealand (+2.233), the World Cup hosts must effectively pray that those sides lose their semi final matches against Sri Lanka and Ireland, respectively. England skipper Jos Buttler was on his way to a game-high 73 from 47 balls and his 100th T20 international when he was dismissed twice by New Zealand. Glenn Phillips once again came close to taking New Zealand to their goal and putting Australia’s destiny in their own hands, but England’s bowlers kept their cool late.
COMFORTABLE NEW ZEALAND IS NOT SO COMFORTABLE NOW
New Zealand remains at the top of Group 1’s table. Given their strong Net Run Rate, they would have qualified if they defeated England on Tuesday. Even though they lost by 20 runs, their NRR is +2.233. They would just need to win the match against Ireland to advance to the semi finals. If Australia and England both win, it appears like they may be in danger even after the win.
Both will equal them in terms of points, but their NRR is too high to compete with. If Ireland defeats New Zealand, they may help smooth the way for Australia and England. (Though we believe this is exceedingly improbable)
ALL LOSE AND SRI LANKA WINS
Sri Lanka will be hoping that Australia, England, and New Zealand all lose their matches, or that at least two of their players do. If Australia loses to Afghanistan, New Zealand loses to Ireland and wins against England. This will easily qualify them on the basis of greater points, i.e., 6.

They won by a large margin over Afghanistan on Tuesday, allowing them to increase their run rate. Even if Australia, England, or New Zealand win, their journey is now entirely dependent on them.
BYE-BYE IRELAND AND AFGHANISTAN
Despite the fact that there is a lot of misunderstanding in Group 1. We may only be analyzing (incorrectly) till the Super 12 is finished. Which clubs will advance to the semi finals? However, one thing is certain. Ireland and Afghanistan have been eliminated from the competition. They will have to do several turnarounds, and despite the fact that this is a World Cup of thrills and adventure, we are not sure that either team can win.
ICC T20 WORLD CUP 2022: MUST WATCH MATCHES ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY
On Friday, several decisions will be made. Both Group 1 matches are currently being played. Ireland will face New Zealand, while Australia will face Afghanistan. The huge giants’ prospects of winning points will be exhausted as they play their final Super 12 encounter. By convention, they are both predicted to win by a large margin.
