On Sunday, Sri Lanka defeated Ireland by nine wickets at the Bellerive Oval in a T20 World Cup encounter. Ireland batted first and finished with a score of 128 for 8, with Harry Tector top-scoring with a 42-ball 45 and Paul Stirling getting a 25-ball 34.

In the second innings, Sri Lanka totally dominated the Irish bowling. Except for the first six overs of their batting innings, the Irish never looked in the game during their batting and bowling innings. The opening half was controlled by Sri Lankan spinners. Kushal Mendis had an outstanding inning of 68(43) with three massive sixes. Dhanajaya 31(25) and Asalanka 31(25) are on board (22).
