Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first, scoring 185 runs with brilliant knocks by Shadab Khan and Iftekhar Ahmed. In response, South Africa only scored 108 runs for the cost of nine wickets in a rain-soaked encounter, in the result Pakistan beat South Africa by 33 runs (DLS method)

Shadab Khan was named player of the match for his all-around effort. In his maiden over, he struck a quick half-century and got two crucial wickets. After the top order faltered, middle-order batsmen Iftikhar Ahmed and the vice-captain smashed half-tons to give Pakistan a large total.

Team Pakistan, which is on the verge of being eliminated from the huge tournament, failed to get off to a good start once again, as openers were removed in the power play. Rizwan, the flamboyant hitter, is caught in Wayne Parnell’s first over. Mohammad Haris was then removed by Anrich Nortje, while Pakistani captain Babar Azam was afterward sacked by Lungi Ngidi.
