Tazmin Brits top the list of competitors in our T20 World Cup fielding rankings after her valiant effort on the field, including four catches in the semi-final match against England. Runs saved and chances taken have proven essential in separating sides, as demonstrated by the two semi-final matches, with Australia and South Africa maintaining their composure against India and England, respectively.

How are field players evaluated?
Fielders receive points for their on-field performance, including successful catches and run-outs, halted runs, and actual instances of exerted pressure on the middle-batting duo. Before each game in the tournament, each player has a net score of zero, and they finish with a number (either positive or negative) that reflects their contribution to the field. Players are then assigned an overall impact score based on the sum of their algorithmic scores throughout all of their matches. In some situations, significant moments of a game’s fielding are given more weight.

How do fielders get evaluated?
Fielders earn points for various on-field acts, like making catches, completing runouts, halting runs, and exerting real pressure on the middle-batting duo. Each game in the tournament begins with a net score of zero for the players, and they end with a number (either positive or negative) that reflects their contribution to the field. Players receive an overall impact score once the algorithm’s scores are summed up over all of the games. In some instances, vital fielding situations during match-defining moments are given more weight.
