BBL: Sydney Thunder defeated Brisbane Heat by 10 wickets in Big Bash 2023, Match 17

Sydney Thunder defeated Brisbane Heat by a margin of ten wickets, snapping a three-game losing streak. Alex Hales and Matthew Gilkes led the Sydney Thunder to a 10-wicket victory over the Brisbane Heat at Sydney Showgrounds Stadium, resuming their season.

In BBL|12 match no. 17, Sydney Thunder defeated Brisbane Heat by 10 wickets. Matthew Gilkes of the Thunder was named ‘Player of the Match. The Heat won the toss and chose to bat first in the 17th match of the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) between Sydney Thunder and Brisbane Heat.

In their allotted 20 overs, Jimmy Peirson’s side scored 121 for the loss of six wickets. In response, the Thunder chased down the target in 11.4 overs, scoring 124 without losing a wicket. This resulted in a 10-wicket victory for Chris Green’s team.

Matthew Gilkes was named ‘Player of the Match’ after smashing 56 off 34 balls, including six fours and three sixes.  Alex Hales, his opening partner, also contributed to the Thunder’s victory, scoring 59 runs off 36 balls, including 10 fours. This was the Thunder’s second victory of the season, and it snapped a three-game losing streak.
