Surya kumar Yadav breaks Glenn Maxwell’s T20I world record with a scorching half-century in the second T20I

Surya kumar Yadav of Team India caused havoc on South African bowlers in the second T20I of the series in Guwahati. Surya kumar, in fine form, slammed an 18-ball half-century and went on to score 61 off only 22 deliveries as India recorded a massive total of 237/3 in 20 overs. India won by 16 runs, taking a 2-0 lead in the three-match series, thanks to his scorching knock and an all-round effort from the top four.

Suryakumar became the third-fastest Indian to 1,000 runs in T20Is en way to his knock (by innings). Suryakumar reached the feat in only his 31st innings, trailing only Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. However, in terms of the amount of balls faced, the 32-year-old great hitter is the quickest to reach the four-figure milestone.

Suryakumar set a new record, surpassing Australia’s Glenn Maxwell. Surya kumar, on the other hand, reached the 1000th run in T20Is in just 574 balls, while Maxwell took 604 deliveries. The following is a list of the fastest batters to score 1000 runs in men’s international T20s (in terms of number of balls faced).

Following the victory against South Africa, India captain Rohit Sharma congratulated Suryakumar and joked that he would not play him again till India’s opening game against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup. I’m thinking of not playing him anymore; just play him on the 23rd (of October), when India opens their World Cup campaign against Pakistan,” Rohit remarked of the in-form batsman, who made his third consecutive half-century.

“He is someone who wants to play the game, who wants to keep going out there and succeeding.” That is what makes him happy, and we want him to be happy.”
