With his incredible innings, the 23-year-old established himself as the youngest player in Men’s ODI history to hit a double hundred. Shubman Gill’s 208 is the joint-ninth best individual score in a Men’s One-Day International.

And he is one of just eight players in history to have accomplished this feat in the format. Only India skipper Rohit Sharma has twice achieved a double century in ODIs (doing so three times). And five of the eight players who have hit 200 or more runs in an ODI are Indian.

No Indian has ever scored more runs in an ODI against New Zealand than Gill. Gill’s 208 is his best score for India in all forms, and his fourth century – three in ODIs and one in Tests. Gill’s scoring pace increased during the innings, as he moved from 150 to 200 in only 23 balls, reaching the double-century mark with three consecutive sixes.

In addition to making 208 runs, Gill achieved 1000 lifetime ODI runs for India. He has accomplished this feat in less matches than any other Indian player in history. Only Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman has scored 1000 runs in fewer matches in the game’s history (18).
