Veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik is eligible for selection to the Pakistan men’s side for the T20 World Cup in Australia even though he is the head coach of the Pakistan Junior League (PJL).
The PJL and World Cup will take place in October 2022, per the details. The 40-year-old is still eligible for selection to the Pakistan cricket squad since he has not yet retired. Malik will be replaced by another coach if he is chosen for the World Cup team, according to PCB.
Malik can be called up to the national team at any moment under an agreement with team captain Babar Azam. The PCB has announced that he will act as the PJL mentor with Javed Miandad, Shahid Afridi, and Daren Sammy.
This has given rise to allegations that Shoaib Malik has lost hope in his ability to play cricket and is considering a career as a coach instead. The opposite, however, is true since he still wants to play international cricket.
