PSL 2023: Sam Billings wants to help Lahore Qalandars lift trophy, once again

Sam Billings, wicket-keeper, and batsman for the Lahore Qalandars have set his sights on leading his club to victory in the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). In an interview with Geo News in Islamabad, the 31-year-old English cricketer said that his main objective in Pakistan is to win the championship with Lahore Qalandars and that he has no personal objectives.

When asked whether he has any personal ambitions for PSL 2023, he said, “To win the PSL with the Lahore Qalandars.” “I do not establish too many personal objectives. So long as the team is winning, I will give it my all. He continued, “This is the most crucial factor.” The English cricketer also lauded Shaheen Shah Afridi’s leadership qualities as captain of the Lahore Qalandars.

“What impressed me the most is how rapidly he learns the game. He has a lot on his plate, especially for a young leader and bowler. Yet, he’s doing it well. He is a cool, collected, and composed individual. And he thrives on difficulty. About Shaheen, Sam Billings said, “It’s amazing that he’s shown such incredible talent throughout the whole tournament. Hopefully, he can lead us to yet another championship.”

Sam Billings had previously played for Islamabad United in the first and second seasons of the PSL; however, he is now playing for Lahore and is making his debut in Pakistan. Sam Billings, speaking about his time playing in Pakistan and being a member of the Qalandars, said, “The grounds are fantastic, the wickets are terrific, and you get such good value with the outfields as well. What a team, it’s a wonderful atmosphere to be a part of.”

“Playing in front of a home audience, as all of our games have been played in Lahore, has been great, with full stands everywhere; after the previous few years with COVID and everything, it is so nice to play in front of fans, and the support we’ve had has been incredible. “For a foreign player coming over here, you realize how important cricket is to the people here,” the England batsman Sam Billings stated.

In response to a query, Sam Billings said that the best aspect of all these various franchise-based leagues is that they each have their own traits and flavor. “Here, there are several bowlers who average 140 or more, 150. Regarding velocity, I see this to have the roaring capability. In terms of both quality and fun, I would say that it ranks among the best. Sam Billings remarked of PSL, “I just like it.”

Sam Billings said that it is far more advantageous to maintain wickets than to bat against Shaheen. “I believe I can say that for a majority of our bowling assault. Being on the same squad as Rashid, Haris, and Zaman is much preferable to playing against them.” “He is a positive, energetic, and charismatic individual. “And today he’s a fantastic teammate, a great guy, and the life of the party,” he remarked of Haris Rauf.
