Born on January 31, 1997, Ruturaj Gaikwad progressed through the Maharashtra team’s age-group structure. He grew raised in a big joint family and none of his cousins played sports. Gaikwad comes from a family in Pune that has always placed a strong importance on education.
Indian’s one of the Youngest Opener
Ruturaj Gaikwad is a free-stroking opener whose fluid style is the foundation of his game. He initially gained attention in the 2016–17 Vijay Hazare Trophy, when he finished as the third-highest run-scorer in the competition. His ability to play reliable, risk-free cricket and yet score at a respectable rate soon attracted notice.
Ruturaj was considered a prodigy who was destined for greatness from the beginning. He progressed through the Maharashtra team’s age group structure and often made it to the India A side as well. His success percentage has so far been significantly greater in List A since he plays there consistently and with a solid strike rate.
Ruturaj, on the other hand, ought to be able to outperform his already respectable First-class cricket returns considering his temperament and skill. He plays with subtle touches and timing rather than the current power hitting style that is typical of young batters. He was signed by Chennai Super Kings for the 2019 IPL season, and although the management has not yet chosen him for the starting lineup, the young player should be in their future plans.
Domestic Career
At the age of 19, the fashionable right-handed batsman made his first-class debut for Maharashtra in the Ranji Trophy 2016–17. Gaikwad was dismissed for a golden duck in his India A debut against the England Lions in January 2019, just a few months after making his first-class debut. But it was only going to be a minor incident during a fantastic summer.
His List A cricket scores for India A against Sri Lanka A at home and against West Indies A in the Caribbean were: 187*, 125*, 94, 84, 74, 3, 85, 20, 99. That is 677 runs at a strike rate of 116.72 and an average of 112.83. He was included in India B’s roster for the 2018–19 Deodhar Trophy in October 2018.
Ruturaj Gaikwad IPL Career
Ruturaj Gaikwad has had a difficult time so far in the IPL 2022, but it’s noteworthy to note that he is still the team’s top hitter this year. He had three half-centuries to thank for his 366 runs at a 28.15 average in the IPL 2022. In the tournament’s first five innings, he only managed to score 35 runs. In the second part of the competition, Ruturaj has gotten stronger. At his home stadium in Pune, he was denied a well-deserved century, but he still managed to hit 99 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Ruturaj Gaikwad was retained by the CSK for INR 6 crore ahead of the 2022 season of the league after 16 games, 635 runs, and a maximum score of 101* in the 2021 league. Ruturaj Gaikwad, a Pune native who bats first, has consistently delivered for his state side, Maharashtra. In the league stage of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2018–19, he scored the most runs for Maharashtra. The Chennai Super Kings acquired his services at his basic price of INR 20 lacs at the IPL 2019 Player Auction. He has been their most dependable opener and plans to continue that role in April and May.
