Sidra Ameen hammered 176* off 151 balls as she and Muneeba Ali put up 221 runs for the first wicket, completing a century in the process. Ameen’s century, her third in one-day internationals is the fifth-highest individual score in women’s one-day internationals. Deepti Sharma (188) and Chamari Athapaththu (178*) are listed after the two. Ameen’s innings mark Pakistan’s first to surpass the 150-run barrier. Previously, Javeria Khan’s 133* against Sri Lanka in 2015 was the best ODI score by a Pakistani player.
Record-breaking knock from Pakistan Women batter
Ameen and Ali’s 221-run partnership is the sixth-highest for the first wicket in women’s ODIs. Punam Raut and Deepti Sharma put up 320 runs for the first wicket against Ireland, with Deepti scoring 188. This is the eleventh 200-run partnership for the first wicket in women’s ODIs. Notably, this is Pakistan’s first-century stand for the opening wicket and the greatest for any wicket, surpassing Bismah Maroof and Nida Dar’s 181-run stand.
Pakistan went on to defeat Ireland by 128 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.
