Following a high-scoring thriller between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators, Lahore Qalandars defeated Islamabad United with a score of 226 to Fakhar Zaman’s outstanding hundred. Yet, it was another flat surface, and an Islamabad victory wasn’t out of the question given the strong run-chases in the season thus far.

But, the run chase never got underway after the domineering opening partnership because wickets were falling often. As he created a web around the batters for Islamabad in the middle overs, Rashid Khan was the major destroyer.

Shadab Khan was removed by the leg-spinner after the powerplay ended. Rashid took off Mubasir Khan, Faheem Ashraf, and Asif Ali in his subsequent three overs, deflating Islamabad’s chances of reaching the goal quickly. The great Afghan all-rounder went 4 for 21 after appearing briefly in 5-ball 15 and earlier.
