Babar Azam, the captain of Peshawar Zalmi, thanked a ball-picker for catching Alex Hales outside the boundary on Thursday during Islamabad United’s inning in HBL PSL 8. The ball-picker grinned as the Zalmi captain acknowledged him and was pleased. Despite Alex Hales hitting Babar Azam’s bowlers all over the field, social media people applauded his gesture towards the ball-picker.

It’s interesting to note that Babar began his amazing cricket career as a ball-picker for the South African team during their 2007 tour to Pakistan. “My adventure in cricket began back in 2007,” he stated. Even though I was passionate about the sport, I yearned to watch international superstars compete in front of me. I requested someone to assist me in becoming a ball picker because the South African squad was visiting at the time. I used to travel regularly to the Gaddafi Stadium from Gulberg.

“I used to like catching balls. I distinctly recall witnessing Inzamam-ul-last Haq’s innings, in which he was dismissed just short of breaking the legendary Javed Miandad’s record. I saw it myself as he returned to the changing room to vent his rage. I feel fortunate to be making my Test captaincy debut against the same side after a long and difficult road, Babar said to PCB Digital in 2021.
