Against Quetta Gladiators on Friday in the HBL PSL, Azam Khan came within three runs of breaking the record for the quickest century in the competition’s history. The hard-hitting batsman scored 97 runs off 42 deliveries, including nine fours and eight sixes.
Azam Khan misses the fastest PSL century record by three runs
The 24-year-old had faced 41 balls and was on 97 with one ball left in United’s innings. He attempted to go for the slog, but Odean Smith bowled him. Azam Khan entered the batting order while United was in trouble at 43-3 and concluded his innings with an astounding strike rate of 230.95.

Rilee Rossouw of the Multan Sultans’ top order presently holds the record for the quickest century. Azam had already faced 25 balls when he blasted his first six of the game. He then scored the next 72 runs with a strike rate of 343 in only 21 balls. Shahid Afridi praised Azam Khan’s explosive performance and dubbed it a “boom boom innings.”
