According to reports, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif accepted the nomination of Najam Sethi as the new head of the (Pakistan Cricket Board) PCB Chairman on Wednesday.

According to sources close to the situation, a change in the PCB board of governors will be announced today. According to officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity, the Prime Minister’s Office will issue four notifications on the appointment. They said that a single notice would be sent informing the cancellation of the cricket board’s 2019 constitution. The other will notice the cancellation of the two persons submitted for the chairmanship under the 2019 constitution, and the third will restore the 2014 constitution.

The fourth communication will announce the formation of a “setup” to administer the current board. Reports about current PCB head Ramiz Raja’s successor have surfaced a few times in the past, but, he had refuted the accusations and claimed he was not “going anywhere”. Later, it was claimed that the existing administration intended to fire the present chairman of the PCB. However, Raja contacted PCB employees to inform them that he had received a “green light” from the government to begin operating.

I’ve been ordered to keep working as [the] PCB chairman,” Raja told PCB employees. During the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) administration, the former Pakistan captain was chosen uncontested as head of the cricket board on September 13, 2021. The PCB’s chief position had become vacant when Ehsan Mani stepped down at the end of his three-year tenure.
