The Board of Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to pay Indian women cricketers at par with male cricketers.

On Thursday, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah wrote on the social networking website Twitter that ‘I am happy to inform you that BCCI has taken the first step to eliminate gender discrimination, we are involved in the contract.

There is a policy of equal remuneration for the women’s team, now the match fee will be equal for both the men’s and women’s teams. Jai Shah further wrote that ‘Now women cricketers will get Rs 15 lakh for a Test match, Rs 6 lakh for an ODI and Rs 3 lakh for a T20 match.’
