If Bernardo Silva joins Barcelona, (Páez Gavira) Gavi will not renew his contract

Barcelona starlet Gavi is to be unhappy with the club’s pursuit of Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva. The Spain international turned 18-years-old earlier this week and he is reportedly set to open a five-year deal with the club. However, Catalan outlet Beteve report that Gavi has informed Barcelona that he will not renew his contract in the event the club sign Bernardo Silva. The report adds that the midfielder has informed Barça boss Xavi of his displeasure, with Gavi set to wait until the final day of the summer transfer window to finalise a contract extension. The Catalan outfit have already bolstered their midfield ranks with the arrival of Franck Kessie following his departure from Milan. Frenkie de Jong also remains at the club despite rumours linking him with a move to the Premier League. Meanwhile, Miralem Pjanic has returned from his loan with Besiktas, while Nico Gonzalez was promoted to the first-team last season.

Gavi is uncomfortable with the signing of Bernardo Silva

Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, told the media before of his team’s trip to West Ham on the opening weekend of the Premier League season that Bernardo Silva may leave the club. “Sometimes you have to separate our way for the club, sometimes for the players, sometimes for the agent,” the Spaniard explained. “The most crucial factor is the player’s desire.” Of course, I’d like Bernardo to stay here; he’s a wonderful player for us. But I’m not sure what will happen. “Whatever happens will happen, and if he remains, that’s great; if he needs to leave, that’s because football is like that; the player has a desire.”

Gavi may turn down a contract renewal

Barcelona is interested in signing Bernardo Silva, but their top academy player Gavi has warned the club that if the player is signed, he would not extend his contract. If Bernardo is signed, Gavi will be concerned about game time and is seriously considering not renewing his contract.

Barcelona is poised to make an offer for Bernardo Silva if Frenkie De Jong can be released.

Barcelona is interested in acquiring Bernardo Silva and will make an offer if Frenkie De Jong departs the club. Barcelona requires the funds from the De Jong sale in order to pursue Silva, but his signature may result in the loss of Gavi. 

Gavi turned 18 yesterday, and Barcelona is aiming to prolong his contract in the coming weeks. Manchester City attempted to recruit Gavi while he was still at La Masia, but the youngster elected to stay with the Catalan club after speaking with Patrick Kluivert.
