Ashleigh Gardner, Australia’s No. 1 rated all-rounder, has closed off a fantastic year by winning the ICC Women’s Player of the Month title for December 2022.

Gardner beat out England’s Charlie Dean and New Zealand starter Suzie Bates for the prized monthly award after her outstanding individual performance against India last month. With seven wickets, the 25-year-old tied for the highest in the five-match series against India, while also scoring 115 runs at an average of more than 50.

Gardner was chosen Player of the Series for her efforts in India as ICC Women’s Player of the Month, and she added to the excitement by receiving the monthly ICC award as a consequence. Gardner’s achievement follows an incredible year in which she played a key part in Australia’s victories in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in New Zealand and the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Gardner also climbed the Women’s All-rounder rankings to surpass West Indies captain Hayley Matthews and become the world’s top-rated player in that category by the end of the year.
