Harry Brook, who was nominated with Babar Azam and Travis Head, won the prize following an outstanding tour to Pakistan in December. The 23-year-old was instrumental in England’s 3-0 thrashing of Pakistan, completing the series as the leading run-scorer with 468 runs in three matches.

Brook was a wonderful match for the ‘BazBall’ style, slotting in easily in the middle-order in Jonny Bairstow’s absence, with his runs coming at an astounding strike rate of 93.41. At just his second Test, the kid scored 153 and 87 in Rawalpindi in the opening match of the series.
His century came off only 116 balls in the first innings, as he tore through Pakistan’s bowling lineup to set the tone for the remainder of the series. He went on to make a century in each of the subsequent two Tests as England dominated on their first visit to Pakistan in 17 years. Brook was selected Player of the Series for his spectacular batting heroics, and he now closes off the year by being crowned ICC Men’s Player of the Month for December 2022.
