A strange disease

The story of Ghanem al-Muftah began in the year 2002 when he was born. At that time he suffered from a disease called ‘cardinal retraction syndrome’ and due to this, he lost most of the bones in his body. It is a rare congenital disease that occurs due to incomplete formation of the lower part of the spine before birth. One in 25 thousand people in the world suffer from this disease.
The challenge of life for Ghanim al-Muftah

Due to this strange disease, Ghanem al-Muftah faced the challenge of living with half a body as he had lost most of the bones in his body. Despite this difficult challenge, Ghanem did not lose heart from Muftah. He continued his journey through life with the help of his hands and a wheelchair. Studied very hard and then one day he became an important figure in Qatar due to his unique style.
After that, Ghanim Al Muftah was appointed as Qatar’s Goodwill Ambassador. Many books were also published on the subject of success and constant struggle, which awakened feelings of compassion and kindness in people and made them aspire to live life. Ghanim al-Muftah also founded an organization that distributes wheelchairs to people with physical disabilities.
Special relationship with Saudi Arabia

Ghanim al-Muftah has a special relationship with Saudi Arabia. Ghanim al-Muftah mentioned his dream that he wanted to circumambulate the Kaaba on his hands. When Prince Sultan bin Salman Abdul Aziz came to know about this wish, he decided to make it a reality, after which Ghanem performed Umrah rituals.
Ghanem performed Tawaf of the Kaaba on the palms of his hands, not like ordinary people or those who perform Tawaf sitting on wheelchairs. It was an interesting and strange sight for the visitors there. Prince Sultan bin Salman made special arrangements to pay for the rites of Ghanem Muftah and his family members. A special team accompanied him from his arrival at Makkah to the completion of the rituals. During this time, Ghanem al-Muftah’s dream of kissing Hajar Aswad was revealed and he was fortunate to meet Imam Al-Sheikh Maher Al-Mu’aiqli of Masjid al-Haram.
Meeting with intelligent people
Ghanim al-Muftah was welcomed by Saudi Arabia in 2014 when he was invited to a ‘meeting with intelligent people to discuss his achievements. Despite his severe disability, Ghanem al-Muftah participates in sports, especially swimming, at the Gharafa Club in Doha with the help of his two hands. Along with this, they also travel to different countries of the world to participate in tourism and international conferences.
