Fakhar Zaman’s ton powers Lahore Qalandars to massive victory over Islamabad United

On Thursday, March 9 at the Pindi Club Field in Rawalpindi, the Pakistan Super League 2023 match 26 between Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars increased the fanfare. Shaheen Shah Afridi, captain of the Qalandars, won the toss and decided to bat first on a fast track. They suffered a setback right on, though, when opener Abdullah Shafique left the game after just one run was scored in the first over, and the respponbilituy is on Fakhar Zaman’s shoulders.

Fakhar Zaman starred in Lahore’s big win over United

Fakhar Zaman, who appeared to be in excellent form, and Kamran Ghulam, who entered the game at number three, stabilized the innings. Fakhar Zaman scored the most runs during the pair’s mammoth 122-run standoff 61 balls for the second wicket. Ghulam was ultimately caught for 41 off 30 balls, and Mohammad Wasim Jr. scored United’s second run.

Fakhar Zaman, though, kept up his blazing performance and displayed some incredible attacking strokeplay. He and Sam Billings shared a 70-run third-wicket stand in 42 balls, bringing his team’s total close to 200 runs. After hitting eight fours and eight sixes over his innings, the southpaw was eventually removed for 115 off of 57 balls.

Qalandars reached a total of 226/5 in their allocated 20 overs thanks to undefeated quick-fire innings by Rashid Khan in which he scored 15 runs off 5 balls. Fazalhaq Farooqi turned out to be United’s best bowler, finishing with figures of 3/40 in four overs.
