Following their 3-0 series defeat against Australia, England fell to No. 2 in the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s ODI Team Rankings, with New Zealand taking the lead. The current ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup champions experienced a rare defeat, meaning they went from winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 championship to being wiped clean in Australia and losing the top ODI rankings tag in less than ten days.

England was comfortably ahead of New Zealand with 119 rating points before the commencement of the series. However, three consecutive defeats resulted in a six-point loss, dropping them to 113 points behind New Zealand (114). Australia’s outstanding performance was also recognized. They moved up one spot to fourth with 112 rating points, replacing Pakistan, which had 107.
As a result, Australia and India are now tied on rating points, with the latter having more overall. India is ranked third with 112 rating points and 3802 overall points, while Australia is ranked fourth with 112 and 3572 points, respectively. England will have another chance to reclaim first place when they face South Africa in a three-match series away from home in January 2023.
