The visitors will rue that missed opportunity from Matthew Gilkes – it would have been the third wicket of the over and the contest may have been turned around. Fawad, on the other hand, dropped him, and they never had another opportunity. The left-hander milked the bowling and accumulated 87 runs for the unbroken third-wicket partnership with Ross to secure the win and move them up to fourth place.

It’s always wonderful to have a little luck. After the dropped catch, I breathed a sigh of relief. (On Warner) It’s incredible to watch him play on TV for so long and then see him do it in person. He’s great to bat with since he talks you through the innings. (On today’s inning) I had to play strategically since it was difficult out there. It all came down to not taking too many chances and going deep. This was a must-win, and I’m excited to carry it to the next game.

I like playing here and have done a lot of grade cricket here. It’s always a pleasure to visit Manuka, particularly with the sold-out crowds. The bowlers were extremely disciplined, and it was only a final over burst by Will Sutherland that pushed them to a respectable score. The Thunder’s victory has beautifully set up the back end of the #BBL12-the Scorchers and Sixers are all but through and should grab the top two spots.

Gades, Thunder, Strikers, Canes, and Heat are still in contention.
