Silk smashed a six off the third ball of Luke Wood’s thrilling last over before being controversially caught behind before Dan Christian scored the winning runs. The Stars (2-6) are again in last position, while the Sixers (5-3) are tied for first place with the Scorchers and Thunder. When Vince hit back-to-back sixes off Trent Boult, the Sixers needed 36 runs off the final three overs (1-39).
A total of 11 runs were needed from the last over, and Vince should have been run out looking for two off the first delivery, but fellow Englishman Joe Clarke missed his initial swipe at the stumps with the batsman short of his ground.

Silk’s tremendous six (15 off 10) swung the game in the Sixers’ favor, but he was adjudged to have pinched Wood’s following ball behind and was given his marching orders. Christian subsequently struck his sole ball faced against Wood for four points, propelling the Sixers to win with one ball remaining. Vince’s season-high innings featured nine fours and two sixes, falling just shy of being the Sixers’ first player to hit a century.

Stoinis hit seven fours and two sixes as the Stars scored 34 runs off Chris Jordan and Hayden Kerr during the power outburst. Tom Rogers, acquired as a substitute for injured captain Glenn Maxwell, rode his luck at times and finished with a career-best 48 off 33 deliveries.
