Forecasts for the main European leagues have been provided by the CIES Football Observatory. The forecasts were created using a statistical model that takes into account the previous two seasons’ results, the experience of the players in the team, and the clubs’ market spending. When we look at the five major European leagues, we can see that the victorious team from the previous season will be reaffirmed in four national titles.
In reality, according to CIES, Guardiola’s Manchester City will retain the Premier League championship, ahead of rivals Liverpool and the two London clubs Chelsea and Tottenham. In LaLiga, Real Madrid will still win the title, followed by Atletico Madrid’s cousins. There is little faith in Xavi’s Barcelona, who will finish third. The Spanish quartet will be completed by Sevilla.
In an unusual occurrence, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain will dominate the Bundesliga and Ligue 1. In Germany, Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen will round up the podium, while the Parisians will trail the quartet of Monaco, Marseille, and Lyon in France.
What we want to know is how the Serie A 2022-23 season will conclude. The Italian championship will be the only European event (out of the five most major leagues) to have a different master this season than the previous. According to CIES, Inter and Milan will switch first and second places, Napoli will finish third, and Juventus will not finish higher than fourth. Despite a significant market, Atalanta will finish fifth in the league, followed by Roma.
